Classic Battle: The 55 Points of 1967 Finals Game 6

Barry's most explosive single game came in 1967 Finals Game 6. He was barely past rookie age, facing Chamberlain's loaded 76ers, with almost the whole offense on his back.

That night he dropped 55, setting a then-Finals single-game record; in an era before the three-point line, such volume was absurd. Sadly the Warriors fell to the deeper Philadelphia team, and Barry's scoring went for naught.

But the 55 meant more than a box score: it told the world this young man could carry a team on the biggest stage. The 1975 Finals MVP was, in a sense, delayed vindication of that "lone-gun" show—eight years later he no longer scored in vain; the team won with him.
