1997 The Flu Game: Jordan’s Legendary Night

The 1997 NBA Finals matched Chicago and Utah for the first time. The series was tight; after four games it was 2-2.

The night before Game 5, Jordan was struck by severe food poisoning (or flu), barely able to stand. Yet in the do-or-die "Flu Game" he scored 38, including a late three for a 90-88 win and the series lead. Him collapsing into Pippen’s arms became a symbol of grit.

Chicago won 4-2; Jordan was the clear fifth Finals MVP. The ring started the 1990s’ second three-peat (1996-98) and pushed his legend higher.
