The Dream Team Summer: Jordan and Barcelona 1992

In summer 1992 Jordan hit another peak: as the core of the "Dream Team" at the Barcelona Olympics — the first Games with NBA pros, stacking Jordan, Magic and Bird.

The Dream Team drew massive crowds; every game was a rout. Jordan often deferred the spotlight yet remained the focus. The Games exported NBA star culture worldwide; countless overseas kids fell for basketball because of them.

For Jordan, 1992 was a club-and-country peak year: just repeated as champ, then stood atop the Olympic podium. He was Chicago’s king and basketball’s global face.
