2023 Summit Crown: Jokic Leads Nuggets to First Title

In 2023, the Denver high plains finally got their first Larry O’Brien Trophy. Nikola Jokic led the Nuggets through 2022-23 with steady dominance, beating Jimmy Butler’s Miami Heat 4-1 in the Finals for the franchise’s first title in 47 years.

Jokic averaged nearly 30 points with big rebounds and assists—near-triple-double dominance—and was the uncontested Finals MVP. The Serbian big man conquered the league in the most "unfashionable" way possible.

Denver’s success was built on Jokic’s playmaking hub: Murray, Porter and others were "fed" into killers. The first title rewarded a team that built patiently.

When Jokic raised the FMVP trophy, the snowy peaks of Denver seemed to answer.
