2006 The Flash Ascends: Wade’s Comeback Finals
The 2006 NBA Finals saw the Miami Heat fall behind 0-2 to the Dallas Mavericks. Just as everyone counted Miami out, a third-year guard stepped up — Dwyane Wade.
From Game 3, Wade took over: 34.7 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game, slicing Dallas’ defense with relentless drives. He scored 42 in Game 3 to spark the comeback; in Game 6 on Dallas’ floor he poured in 36 for a 95-92 road win, completing a 0-2 to 4-2 epic and delivering Miami’s first championship.
Wade was the unanimous Finals MVP. The title put the Heat among champions and made "The Flash" a league-wide name. A three-year pro had just authored a historically elite scoring explosion on the biggest stage.
Four straight wins after 0-2 — Wade’s 2006 is the hottest footnote for the word "comeback."
