2021 Finals MVP: Giannis Crowns Milwaukee

In the 2021 Finals, Giannis Antetokounmpo averaged 35.2 PPG to lead the Bucks past the Suns for their first title in 50 years and his first FMVP.

The 2021 NBA Finals were the crowning moment of Giannis Antetokounmpo's career. He led the Milwaukee Bucks to a 4-2 series win over the Phoenix Suns, delivering the franchise's first championship since 1971 — a 50-year wait — and was unanimously named Finals Most Valuable Player (FMVP).

Across that series, Giannis was historic: 35.2 points, 13.2 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game on 61.8% shooting. The signature was Game 6 — he exploded for 50 points and 14 rebounds on the road to clinch the title, becoming the first player since Michael Jordan in 1993 to drop 50 in a title-clinching game.

The FMVP's weight lay in "domination through adversity." In the first round, Giannis had suffered a knee hyperextension and was doubted to return; against Brooklyn in the semis he came back hurt and contested Kevin Durant's crucial shot. In the Finals versus Paul and Booker's Suns, his length, wingspan and Euro-step drives turned the paint into his territory.

From the skinny, jump-shot-less 15th pick in 2013 to lifting the FMVP in 2021, Giannis completed an eight-year "from street kid to king" arc. The trophy belonged not just to him but to a city asleep for half a century. The 2021 Giannis is Milwaukee's eternal hero.
