2008 The Truth Crowned: Pierce’s Finals Triumph
The 2008 NBA Finals matched the Boston Celtics against rivals the Los Angeles Lakers. It was the first season of Boston’s "Big Three" — Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen — and Pierce’s tenth year in green.
The Celtics imposed terrifying defensive pressure, leading 3-1 after four games. In Game 6 at the TD Garden, Boston roared to a 131-92, 39-point rout to clinch the title. Pierce averaged 21.8 points, and after playing through injury in Game 4 and exploding for 38 in Game 5, he was the clear Finals MVP.
The ring ended Boston’s long drought since 1986 and transformed Pierce from loyal veteran into a true champion. The nickname "The Truth" never carried more weight.
