The 2005 NBA Finals was a pure defensive grind between the San Antonio Spurs and the Detroit Pistons. Two teams built on iron defense smothered the scoreboard, dragging the series to a Game 7.
In Game 7 at home, the Spurs survived 81-74. Tim Duncan posted 25 points and 11 rebounds, battling through Detroit’s twin towers of Ben and Rasheed Wallace. For the series he averaged 20.6 points, 14.1 rebounds and 2.1 blocks — the anchor of San Antonio on both ends.
