The 1998 NBA Finals matched Chicago and Utah for the second straight year. The Jazz returned; the series again reached Game 6.
In the final moments, up just one, Jordan stripped Karl Malone, pushed upcourt, faked Bryon Russell, and drained the jumper with 5.2 seconds left — "The Last Shot." Chicago won 87-86 for a 4-2 series.
It was Jordan’s sixth title and sixth Finals MVP. He then retired for the first time; "The Last Shot" became one of basketball’s most iconic images and the cover moment of "The Last Dance" doc.
When everyone expected overtime, Jordan’s steal and jumper wrote the perfect ending for the Bulls dynasty.
