To name a team's "franchise GOAT," the hardest tests are statistical records and hardware. In Miami, Dwyane Wade wins both by a landslide.
On the stat sheet: Wade is the Heat's all-time leading scorer, the leader in games played (1,200+ for Miami), the steals king (1,500+ career), and near the top in assists and playoff scoring. Those cumulative records rest on 15 years of peak almost entirely given to Miami — except a brief mid-career detour to Cleveland and Chicago, his golden years wore the red-and-black.
On hardware: 3 titles, 2006 FMVP, 13 All-Stars, 8 All-NBA, 3 steals titles, 1 scoring title, 2013 All-Star MVP. No one in Heat history has more or carried longer. LeBron's two rings and two Finals MVPs in Miami are equally great, but his peak spans more in Cleveland; Wade is the cornerstone that turned Miami from "weakling" to "powerhouse."
What makes it rarer is his belonging to the city. In 2010 he took less money and yielded the alpha role to recruit LeBron and Bosh — a sacrifice only a franchise GOAT would make. After brief stops in Cleveland and Chicago, he returned to Miami for his final season in 2017-18, closing the loop tenderly.
His No. 3 hangs in the rafters; the record book is full of his name. The Heat's franchise GOAT needs no debate — the answer is Dwyane Wade.
